DT New West Stars in Your Fave Box Office Hits

Downtown New West has played a plethora of different roles in Hollywood films, so we've looked them all up and picked our top 5!

Downtown New West, the star-studded stage for tons of your favourite movies and TV shows! For all you movie buffs out there the 2014 Summer Am-badass-adors tirelessly combed the many New West film locations and found you these top five movies shot in Downtown New West.

GODZILLA

1

That’s right you guessed correctly, we had to include this favourite and most recent monster rampage! Now this film was a big deal, filmed all over Downtown New West with Front Street transformed into Japan and Columbia Street transformed into San Francisco. Godzilla tore up our Downtown streets throughout 2014.

TWILIGHT- NEW MOON

2

Do you have a weakness for sparkling vampires and teenage angst? Then New West may have been your choice location in 2009 when the star crossed adolescents filmed key scenes here in Downtown New West. The Paramount was re-'vamped' to play the role of the cinema for Jacob and Bella's date. In case you're wondering, we were also featured in the third instalment; Twilight- Eclipse.

SHOOTER

That's right, at one point in time Mark Walberg, former underwear model, was strutting his stuff in Downtown New West in 2007 as Bob Lee Swagger, wrongly accused super-sniper. You might recognize some key New West features in the intense car chase scene ending with Swagger's car submerged in the Delaware. (Hint it's not the Delaware, it's actually our own Fraser River!) The chase scene was filmed along 6th Street and the Quay and that tugboat/bridge shot, actually the Pattullo Bridge!

THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELLING PANTS

3

A movie about pants, what's not to love?! The Downtown New West Bridal District played host to cast and crew when in 2005 our well known Bridal Gallery became 'The Charleston Bridal Gallery" in a key scene starring America Ferrera.

I, ROBOT

4

Amidst killer robots and extreme action the infamous Downtown New West Parkade performed beautifully as an imitation of an overhead railway in order to portray 2035 Chicago. Backing it up, our own Front Street played renegade cop Will Smith's neighbourhood during the sci-fi action flick back in 2004.

Many other great films have been shot in Downtown New West; including Stephen King's IT but that's not all, some of your favourite TV shows have used New West as a backdrop; think Fringe, Supernatural, Once Upon a Time, Arrow, Love it or List it, The Killing, Cedar Grove and many more.

So the next time you come for a visit, remember, you're actually visiting a variety of different cities and locations which span the globe! If you don't believe us, keep an eye out for New West on the Silver Screen!
