What is going on with Fraser River Salmon?
06:30pm -09:00pm
A Conversation with Dr. Brian Riddell, President and CEO, Pacific Salmon Foundation
Tuesday, March 7th at the Fraser River Discovery Centre
6:30 – 7:30 pm: Wine and Cheese Reception
7:30 – 9:00 pm: Fireside Chat
The Fraser River remains the largest Salmon River in North America, yet many of the salmon species that use it are in serious decline – and no one understands exactly why.
Meanwhile, the River faces increasing challenges – from development, resource projects, commercial transportation and global warming – that impact the balance between its environmental, social and economic priorities.
To help us better understand the situation with respect to Fraser River salmon, the FRDC will be hosting a conversation with Dr. Brian Riddell, an internationally recognized scientist and President and CEO of the Pacific Salmon Foundation, an independent, non-governmental organization dedicated to creating a sustainable future for wild Pacific salmon and their habitat.
FRDC Executive Director Stephen Bruyneel will use a “fire-side” chat format to have a discussion with Dr. Riddell about the environmental, social and/or economic aspects of Fraser River Salmon. That will be followed by a facilitated Q&A with the audience.

New Year, New Beginning - An evening of classical and crossover music
GERPHIL FLORES, a classically trained performer and dubbed the songwriter and producer David Foster’s “Golden Girl”. The evening is sure to bring the audience in awe with her take on soft classics. Moreover, an advocate of classical crossover music, she is keen on enthralling everyone with her renditions of popular music pieces performed with a classical twist. This kind of music blends the operatic and symphonic elements of musical pieces that are otherwise a mainstream in pop, rock, Latin and other type of music.
Although a long common phenomenon in the music world, “classical crossover” was coined by record companies and has since gained popularity acquiring its own Billboard chart. Joining the Golden Girl is another classical crossover artist from Budapest, Hungary. ATILLA DOBAK is based out of Boston where he is a member of the Boston Lyric Opera. He is schooled in music as well both in Hungary and the US. He is fondly counted as one of the BARIHUNKS®, a group of the sexiest baritone hunks from the opera.

Brent Butt Headlining for a Comedy Fundraiser
07:00pm -09:00pm
On Thursday March 30th we will be hosting a memorial fundraiser for Mark Dennison. Brent Butt will be headlining this night, as he was close friends with mark. 100% door proceeds will be going to Mark Dennison's family.
Mark was behind the comedy industry starting in 80's. He became a comic then went on to managing Yuk Yuks in Vancouver, then moving to Lafflines in early 90's. Mark worked with comics as they were coming up through the comedy scene and help perfect they craft and made them become a better comic. Most of the top comics that you see today, he has worked with, like Brent Butt, Patrick Maliha, Damaonde Tschritter, Glenn Wool, Tim Nutt, Iwin Barker, Peter Kelamis and many more. He also taught comedy writing at Langara Collage for years, helping new comics to get a start in the comedy business. If it wasn't for Mark, comedy would not be a big as it is today. So come out and support the Memorial Fundraiser and see some of the best comic around. All door proceeds go to Mark's Family
Paul Pigat & Boxcar Campfire @ Old Crow
07:00pm -11:00pm
Originally created as a way of "bringing it down a bit", Boxcar Campfire has taken on a life of its own as this new recording and touring project allows a more reflective and insular shade of Pigat's creativity to come into play. Those with sharp ears will hear snatches of everything from Debussy to Jimmy Rogers blues inflections thrown into the mix, but as always the sounds Pigat creates are all his own. With long gone days of railroad steam trailing out back of his head as he sings of possums in the pot and holes in his heart, this music gets you in the mood to hit the open road and jungle up down by the water, just before he takes it down again and you start dreaming of Lester Young and debonair jazz club suits.
Tix are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, see the event's website above for details
