DRAMATIZED STORYTELLING, TRADITIONAL AFRICAN DANCES, AND LIVE DRUMMING! Celebrate Black History Month 2017 with a Difference: African Stages Association of BC presents: Story-Powering Our Youths Story-Powering Our Youths is a journey from weakness to empowerment, from diffidence to confidence, and from alienation to integration. Our youths are ready to face life with preparation, empowered by their cultural identity, values, and fairness. During the workshops, they learn how to support their peers, how to stand against bullies, and how to be fair and supportive to each other. All these happen not with too much teaching but with African Performing Arts. Now, we want to show our youths achievements in a bigger spectrum. Come and see for yourself. All family members will enjoy our performance. The event will feature African Stages’ youth group who will use dramatized storytelling, drumming and dancing to herald messages of solidary and inclusion. This performance is directed by BC-based, award-winning teacher, writer and storyteller, Comfort Adesuwa Ero. Various showtimes, see the event's website above for details & tix.
