NWEP Boomerang Bags Sew-A-Thon
Event Details
Join us for our first boomerang bags sew-a-thon! Boomerang Bags is an initiative that started in Australia and has spread worldwide. Bags are made by local communities for local communities and are sewn with recycled and donated materials. Share bags are then placed within local shops for all to borrow and bring back. NWEP's goal is to facilitate the process of shifting New Westminster's citizens and business away from plastic dependency by providing both reusable and shareable bags within our local shops. Many cities around the world have moved away from plastic bag usage - We believe through education and community involvement that one day New Westminster could join the list. Please note ** No sewing skills are required. We have many jobs available and could use a lot of help! We even have some experienced sewers who can show you some simple sewing techniques! Things we need (to borrow for the day or if you have to donate!) : Sewing Machines Scissors Cutting Boards Rulers Measuring Tape (please send us a message if you have any of these items to share!) Since all of our material and thread are sourced through the community, we will be accepting donations of both!
