Long, long, long, awaited Maple Leaf Greenery has now opened their doors at 6th and Agnes Street. They’re proud to be a Provincially Licensed retail cannabis store that provides safe/clean cannabis products, a BC based company that supports BC producers. And… the city is looking to change the local bylaws so that they’ll eventually be able to offer edibles!
This pretty little salon opened quietly in July, just next to Mila and Paige at 667 Columbia Street. They offer a wide variety of aesthetic services such as natural nail care and nail extensions, waxing, lashes, skin care and eyebrow tinting. For relaxation, rejuvenation and serenity, look no further than Belle Âme Beauty Bar.

Another long awaited opening, Whatafood is now ready to welcome you to their Shops at New West location on Carnarvon Street. Starting out as a Brazilian street food cart and having visited Downtown New West at our beloved Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Fest for many years, they chose our community to open their first brick & mortar location. Their food is notoriously known for two things: delicious one of a kind flavors and it’s diversity in simple meals. They are excited to bring that Brazilian experience here to New West and share their welcoming culture with everyone who walks into their space.
Feel like shopping for a cause? Downtown New West’s own Found Boutique is now open at 641 Columbia Street! By supporting this local shop, you are sending revenue back into Union Gospel Mission programs to help our homeless neighbours. Every purchase gives gently loved clothing a second home while funding meals, shelter and recovery for our neighbours. With a combination of new and gently loved apparel, you can find high quality products, including local work from artisans throughout the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and greater British Columbia. Found Boutique carries women’s and men’s apparel, as well as home decor, so you are bound to find something that’s right up your alley and know your money is contributing to a valuable cause.
The newest kid on the block, Kinder Books just opened at River Market, 810 Quayside Drive. Kinder Books, an award-winning business, has been around as a traveling bookstore for almost 10 years. During that time many New West families have connected with owner Anne Uebbing at various Artisan Markets or community festivals. Kinder Books’ curated selection of inclusive and diverse children’s books feature stories by Indigenous and local authors, stories for kids from 0-12, teacher resources, meaningful gifts by local makers, puppets and so much more. While the store’s specialty is children’s books, Kinder Books can order adult titles for you as well.
