Fall Activities to Keep the Fun Going
Summer’s over, the weather’s changing, and the days are getting shorter and cosier. If you find yourself wondering what to do in this transitional season, look no further.
Whether you’re searching to find something to do on your next date night or trying to find an activity for the entire family, here are some of our favourite things to do in Downtown New West this fall.
River fest (September 21st)
Come down to the Fraser River for the 17th annual Riverfest! Check out the festival, which boasts a day full of vendors, exhibitors, children’s activities, and live music. Don’t forget to check out the Samson V Maritime Museum, a pop up exhibit by the New Westminster Arts Council’s and the Lucille Johnstone Workboat Parade! For more information, click here.
Culture forward (September 28th)
Celebrate, collaborate, and explore at the Anvil centre on September 28th! From 10am to 2pm, drop by to check out free workshops for all ages and performances by the Royal City Musical Theatre and the Vancouver Cello Quartet. For those of you with a sweet tooth, don’t forget to stay for the cutting of the Anvil Centre’s birthday cake at 2pm! For more information, click here.
Family Fundays (September 29th)
A full day of fun for the family Family-day adventure. Hang out at the River Market with Andy, the musical scientist as he explores the relationship between science and music with his homemade instruments. Later, head over to the Anvil Centre to check out the New Media Gallery, the new Westminster Museum and Studio 411 for interactive exhibits and arts and crafts for the kids! For more information, click here.
Workshops at the Anvil Centre
This season, the anvil centre is holding a variety of workshops for curious minds of all ages! Learn about recording sounds in "Field Recordings: Beginners", or let the kids try their hand at creative invention using simple technologies and raw materials during their "little Makers" workshop. For a full list of workshops, check out the Anvil Centres, click here.
