+ Calendar 08/12/2021 06:00 PM 08/12/2021 08:30 PM America/Vancouver Dougie Greig at Music By The River Music by the River is back! Presented by the Downtown New West BIA and the City of New Westminster with support from the Arts Council of New Westminster and Tourism New Westminster. Old soul Dougie Greig blends soaring melodies and heartfelt Lyrics. From humble beginnings he began songwriting at a young age, touring with rock bands across the UK, culminating in a tour as the vocalist for Dave ‘Bucket’ Colwell of ‘Bad Co.’ fame, selected for his powerful vocals. Dougie’s debut album “Black Water Son” (2013) was raw, a young man returning to his roots as one man, a guitar and lyrics that showed a maturity beyond his years. In search of new inspiration Scottish born Dougie has traversed the globe, collecting stories and landed in Vancouver, Canada where he is quickly making a name for himself as a powerful, heartfelt and dynamic indie folk songwriter. He’s recently showcased at Folk Alliance 2021, Folk Unlocked. Dougie is proud to have played a sold out show in iconic Scottish Venue, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, played festivals including Belladrum UK, Summerset BC, The Edininburgh Fringe festival, Porchfest, BC and supported Gerry Cinnamon in the UK. Dougie is proud to have been nominated for the SAMAs (Scottish Alternative Music Awards) for his songwriting and live performance. Dougie is honoured to be a Godin Guitars Artist here in Canada and previously represented Tanglewood guitars as an ambassador in the UK. His anticipated new release is currently in the works and he’ll debut his first single to Canadian radio in fall 2021. Here’s some nice things people have said about Dougie. “Songs that will break peoples hearts” -Judy Stakee, Songwriting Mentor (Former Head of Creative, Warner Chappell, signed Sheryl Crow, Katy Perry) “Wow, that voice! It’s like you have a built in amplifier, love the tone. Love the song. That’s how to showcase.” -Paul Hinrichs, (BC Touring Council, Artistic Director Kaslo Jazz Festival) So come by to the festival lawn this Thursday from 6pm-8:30pm. That area of Pier Park is licensed, so grab some take-out and cool beverages and come enjoy the tunes! Pier Park Festival Lawn false MM/DD/YYYY aMyetLVwQzjnGkYtOmxH22158
